What we collect, what we don't, and why.

Plain English. No 47-page legal scroll. Last updated .

The short version

Geoframe is built around the idea that a desktop app shouldn't need to phone home. Your maps stay on your machine. We don't run analytics, we don't fingerprint you, we don't sell anything. The only data we collect is what you actively give us - your email when you buy a license, your message when you contact us, and your address if you subscribe to the newsletter.

The Geoframe app (desktop installer)

The app runs entirely on your machine. Your projects, exports, and edits never leave your computer.

  • No telemetry, no analytics, no usage tracking. The app does not phone home. There is no event reporting, crash reporting, or usage metrics.
  • Project files: Your saved projects are plain JSON files in whatever location you choose. We don't read them, sync them, or upload them.
  • Map tiles: When you pan the map, the app requests basemap tiles from third-party providers (OpenStreetMap, CARTO, Esri). Those servers see your IP address and the tiles you load - same as visiting any map website. We don't proxy those requests, so we never see them either.
  • OSM boundaries: When you search for a country/region boundary, the app queries the public Nominatim API (operated by OpenStreetMap) directly. Same deal - Nominatim sees your IP, we don't.

This website (dreamquestudios.com/geoframe)

  • No cookies. No tracking pixels, no analytics, no third-party scripts. Open dev tools and check.
  • Server logs: Standard web server access logs (IP address, user agent, page requested, timestamp) are kept for ~30 days for spam and abuse defense, then rotated out.
  • Contact form: When you send a message, the form posts your name, email, and message to our server. The server emails it to our support inbox and discards the request data. Your email address is used only to reply to you.
  • Newsletter signup: Your email address is added to our subscriber list. We use it only to send Geoframe updates. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.

When you buy a license

Payments are handled by a third-party processor (Stripe / Gumroad / Lemon Squeezy - depending on which we're using when you read this). They collect payment details, handle taxes, and prevent fraud per their own privacy policies. We receive your name, email, country, and order amount - nothing more.

Your email is signed into your license key so the app can show "Licensed to: …" after activation. We keep a record of who bought what so we can re-issue your key if you lose it.

How long we keep things

  • Server logs: ~30 days, then rotated out.
  • Contact form messages: kept in our inbox until they're resolved, then archived per normal email practice.
  • Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Purchase records: kept indefinitely so we can re-issue lost keys to legitimate buyers.

Your rights

You can email us at any time and ask:

  • What data we have about you.
  • To delete your newsletter subscription.
  • To delete your purchase record (note: we'll do this, but we can't re-issue your license key afterward - this is irreversible).
  • To export anything we hold.

Send the request through the contact form and we'll act within 30 days.

Changes to this page

If we change anything material, we'll update the date at the top and post a note on the changelog. We won't sneak in tracking and quietly update the policy.
